Time for Congressman Sanders to do more than just write letters

Congressman Bernie Sanders yesterday sent a letter to President Bush calling on him to convene an emergency energy summit to address the soaring price of gasoline.

"Unfortunately for Vermonters - especially middle and low income Vermonters - who rely on their cars for transportation, Congressman Sanders missed opportunities during his fifteen years in Congress to reduce what they pay for fuel oil," said Tim Lennon, Tarrant for Senate campaign manager.

"Vermonters need to know that Congressman Sanders voted five times to increase or extend the federal tax they pay at the gas pump.

"Instead of writing letters, it's time for Congressman Sanders to stand up and use his voting power in Congress to make a real difference in the every day lives of Vermonters. Once again, we have a case of talking over doing," Lennon said.
